Is there another way?

It has been a while since I wrote in my blog. Life seems to be moving faster these days and I struggle at times to keep up. That's no excuse, mind you, but it is interesting how quickly life is moving.

Education and the impact that our current system has on our young people is still a big interest and concern for me. The end of another school year is around the corner and I wonder how much progress we have made.

I read an article in a magazine recently, apologies for not remembering who wrote it or where, but the writer was a teacher and she was pondering the current state of education and the lack of joy that students held for their future. They just saw an endless round of dead end jobs, big mortgages and very little fun! Put that way, you can understand why they weren't feeling excited about going on to University (create big debt), get a job,(to pay off the debt) get a mortgage (more debt) and hopefully raise a family with kids who will feel the same.

Stop - this insanity has got to end. This isn't what life was meant to be about. What happened to doing what you love and loving what you do? Where is the incentive to even find out?

The price we pay for this insanity is a loss of connection to who we really are and that inner voice that knows the truth. Perhaps the kids are slowly waking up to this inner voice and starting to break the pattern.

So much of who we are and how we run our lives is based on an unexamined set of beliefs and systems that appear to be out of date.

We could all do with a refresher course on listening - especially to ourself. I don't think any sane person would create a life of misery and debt if they had another choice. My inner voice is saying - yes, there is another way.
